 Welcome! I have recently relocated my clinical practice from Chicago to St. Petersburg. I have a Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and have practiced in the Chicago area for 15 years. In addition to my clinical practice, I have taught at Northwestern University, Northeastern Illinois University, and the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. I have done psychotherapy research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital Institute of Psychiatry, and won a research award for discovering how information-processioning biases affect women (and other non-dominant groups) in therapy. My grandparents and father were born and raised in India and China. I have practiced Vipassana meditation and metta (lovingkindness meditation) for 8 years, and Taoist cultivation and Qi Gong in the Wudang tradition (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) for 7 years. These practices produce a calm, non-judging connection within which emotional work happens remarkably quickly. My specialties include depression and women, trauma, learning disabilities and ADD, underachievement, and immunological disorders (including fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivity, environmental illness, allergies, chronic fatigue, and toxic disorders). I provide confidential evaluation of intellectual processing in order to increase level of functioning and protect ability to keep a job, remain in relationship, live independently, and avoid emergency hospitalization. Evaluations can sometimes be done on an emergency basis. I work with adults, adolescents, children, and couples. Services available include psychological/neurospsychological evaluation, counseling and psychotherapy, play therapy, hypnotherapy, medical management, and use of altered states to access parts of the self split off due to trauma.
