Dr. Elizabeth Fisher, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, has relocated her practice from Chicago to
St. Petersburg, FL. Dr. Fisher has a Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and
practiced in the Chicago area for 15 years.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Fisher has taught at Northwestern University,
Northeastern Illinois University, and Illinois School of Professional Psychology. She has done
psychotherapy research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital Institute of Psychiatry, and won a research
award for discovering how gender bias (and bias towards any non-dominant group) affects people in
therapy.
Dr. Fisher's grandparents and father were born and raised in India and China. She has practiced
Vipassana meditation and metta (loving kindness meditation) for eight years, and Taoist cultivation
and Qi Gong in the Wudang tradition (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) for nine years. These
practices produce a calm, non-judging connection within which emotional work happens remarkably
quickly.
Dr. Fisher's specialties include depression and women, trauma, learning disabilities and ADD,
underachievement, and immunological disorders (including fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivity,
environmental illness, allergies, and chronic fatigue). Dr. Fisher also provides confidential
evaluation of memory and intellectual processing in order to increase level of functioning and protect
one's ability to keep a job, remain in a relationship, and live independently. Evaluations can
sometimes be done on an emergency basis.
Dr. Fisher works with adults, adolescents, children, and couples. Services available include
psychological/neuropsychological evaluation, counseling and psychotherapy, play therapy, medical
management, and use of altered states to access parts of the self split off due to trauma.
